Frequently asked questions
What is Piquoli?
Piquoli is an app for learning languages by playing, a few minutes a day. It offers 6 games, more than 2,700 words and sentences sorted into 43 themes, and a recorded voice for every word and sentence. It is made by Scudyweb, in Belgium.
Which languages can I learn with Piquoli?
Piquoli offers French, English, Italian, Spanish and Dutch. Every combination works: you can learn any of these languages from another. New languages arrive with the updates.
Is Piquoli free?
Yes, to start with: the “Basics” and “Colours” themes are free forever, and the 7-day trial starts automatically, with no card and no ads. A subscription then unlocks all of Piquoli: €20.00 a year or €2.99 a month, cancel anytime.
Will the price go up?
Yes, as new content arrives (new languages, new levels, new games). But a subscription keeps its price for as long as it stays active: subscribing now locks in the launch price.
Which devices does Piquoli work on?
On Mac and Windows, with a light app (under 10 MB) that also works offline, and online at app.piquoli.be, in the browser of a phone, tablet or computer. A subscription covers 2 devices.
What level do I need to start?
None: Piquoli covers from level A1 to A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), starting with the most useful everyday words and sentences.
How does Piquoli help me remember vocabulary?
With spaced repetition: a word you miss comes back soon, a word you know comes back later and later. The games make you read, hear and write the same word, which fixes it in your memory.
Are the words pronounced?
Yes. Every word and sentence has its own recorded voice in the language you are learning, which you can replay and slow down. On the computer, the voices even work offline.
Does my progress follow me from one device to another?
Yes, with a Piquoli account (optional on the computer): progress, lists, settings and subscription are synced between the app and the online version.
